This year the Samsung Galaxy S4, Moto X and HTC One have all represent Android phone brilliantly. Of course the electronic giant LG won’t leave behind. It revealed the LG G2 at a press event in New York City on Aug. 7. Let’s have a quick look at what’s new and interesting in LG’s new flagship smartphone.
LG G2’s 5.2-inch 1080p display is bigger than any other high-end phone. And the size of the screen could even match with Samsung Galaxy Note. LG, in fact, claims that its phone has the “largest display designed for one-handed operation in today’s popular 2.7-inch width smartphone category.”
However, users may notice that on the G2, the home, back and recent apps buttons take up part of the screen. Most other Android phones relegate the same buttons to a separate area below the display. That means the actual space dedicated to apps and the Android software will be roughly the same as Samsung’s 5-inch Galaxy S4.
New Rear Design
A big innovation of LG G2 is that the backside of the phone is much complicated than most other handsets. LG opted to put the volume rocker and power button just below the rear camera instead of the edge of the phone. This is to make the handheld experience a little less awkward on such a large phone. Since the device is wider than earlier smartphones, LG wanted to put more controls in a place that your fingers naturally rest. LG is also boasting thinner bezels — 0.1-inch thick, to be precise — thanks to a new dual-routing method in which the touch sensor uses two connectors.
With a 2.26 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 2.1-megapixel front camera, and a whopping 3,000 mAh battery. LG’s also throwing in an infrared blaster for controlling your home TV and stereo, similar to the ones found on the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One. However, you should know that G2 has no microSD card slot–just 16 GB or 32 GB of built-in storage–and the battery is non-removable.
